Game(s) of War

My university career in 1979/80 was severely side-tracked by becoming obsessed playing with a small circle of (geek) student friends a role playing game (RPG) called “Dungeons and Dragons”.

My main character was a female Elven thief called Evenstar.  I have no recollection of why I chose this particular combination of sex/race/role, although I’m pretty sure the name was inspired by Tolkien & perhaps kleptomaniac tendencies.  I definitely remember many all night sessions exploring dungeons that had been created by good friend Gary Hayes as dungeon master.

Alas even post graduation I’ve always loved playing video games and had the perfect excuse when Alex, James and Emma came into my life and my earning power increased…

We have had pretty much every games console you can imagine starting with the Sega Mega Drive, Sega Saturn, Playstation 1, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, pretty much in that order!

My favourite three platforms and games today which I still enjoy playing are as follows:

iPad – Game of War, Clash of Clans, Fallout Shelter
Playstation 4 – Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Wolfenstein (hotly anticipating Uncharted 4!)
Playstation 3 – Uncharted 1, 2, 3, Fallout 3, Resistance Fall of Man 1, 2, 3

I dread to think how many hours and pounds, shillings and pence have been spent in pursuit of this addiction! 🙂
